Spring Missions Conference

We are excited about the upcoming Regional Missions Conference to be held at Cedar Hills Baptist Church in the Portland area April 23-25. Please make participation in this conference a priority for both you and your congregational leaders. The themes, New Church Planting and Existing Church Revitalization, are designed to help answer some of the most commonly asked questions about how to make our churches more engaging, effective, and inviting.

Keynote Speakers bring significant experience and passion to these topics and are sure to touch on the specific questions with which your church is currently grappling.

·Ronald Bouthillette is the lead pastor at The Bridge Community Church in Milford, NH, an Adjunct Professor of Practical Theology at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and on staff with the American Baptist Churches in Vermont and New Hampshire.  He is a graduate of Florida Bible College (BA), Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary (MDiv) and Luther Rice Seminary (DMin). He has been a pastor of churches in Midwest and the East.  His passion is church revitalization in the New England region, and mentoring new pastors.  He is married to Cathy and they have two children - Erich and Rachel. Erich lives in the Boston area, married to Joanne and they have three sons. Rachel is married to Rick Drew and they live in Murfreesboro, TN and they have a son and two daughters.

·Charley Scandlyn is senior pastor at New Community Church in Menlo Park, CA. His ministry focuses on helping people live in the way of Jesus. He has launched and revitalized several non-profits, starting in his college days. Before starting New Community Church in 2018, Charley was the founding leader of the Ravenswood Education Foundation, which supports disadvantaged public schools. He also served as executive pastor at Menlo Church. Charley has an MA in theology from Fuller Seminary and a BS in Business from San Diego State. Together, he and his wife Nicole have seven kids.

We are starting with an informal dinner on Thursday evening, April 23, at the Cedar Hills Baptist Church. If you are traveling from out of town, please consider this opportunity when making your travel plans.

The Conference calendar itself is:

·Friday (April 24) 10:00am to 8:30pm with lunch and dinner provided onsite.

·Saturday (April 25) 8:30am to 12:00pm with a continental breakfast provided.

·Saturday (April 25) 12:00pm to about 4:00pm, an optional “field trip” to the West Union Baptist Church (the first Protestant church west of the Rocky Mountains and the birthplace of the Oregon Baptist Convention) This will include a stop en route for lunch. Dr. Everett Curry, our Region President, will be providing a look at the history of this church and the significant roles the laity have played in the Baptist church movement.

Please put this event on your church calendar and plan to be with us. Congregational leaders, especially those with a heart and vision for evangelism, discipleship, and church growth and renewal, will find this a very helpful conference.
