We've Arrived!

It's Friday morning just before 6am.  The air is cool and the sun has just come up.  We are working on breakfast.

After being our flight delays we are happy to be her, even 24 hours behind schedule. The airport was an adventure.  We exited the plane into a new jetway and sections that have been rebuilt.  We were met by Ronald's cousin who works at the airport.  He took care of Immigration for us while another friend guy picked up our bags.  We rolled our many bags through the throngs, of people out the gates down the street through the traffic jam to a muddy parkinglot.

Everything was packed into the back of a truck, including us.  Driving through Port au Prince we tasted and smelled and heard and saw.  Our senses felt overwhelmed with new things.  We pointed and asked questions.  There are still many buildings in ruins with people living in and around them.  There are tent cities erected wherever there is space.  We saw a whole series of tents erected on the median of a boulevard.

Siloah Baptist Church damaged in the earthquake. For over 2 hours we rode.  A rainstorm cooled us off and then the tropical sun quickly dried us off again.  The church complex here is deffinately under construction.  The school building is going up quickly, almost finished with the first level walls.  In one section they are pouring the bond beams for the top of the walls.

We are all sleeping in tents right on the site.  It's time for breakfast and a meeting to plan our day.  Yesterday was a great beginning.  We walked around town to see and meet people.  Thank you for your continued prayers for the day and for the people of Haiti.  God is working in mighty ways here and we are anxious to share with you stories when we can.  Have a great day!
